The Pastor is assigned to the Parish by the Archbishop. He is responsible for the overall spiritual care of the Parish community, including the administration of the sacraments, counseling assistance to persons in spiritual need, instruction in the gospel and Church teaching. He sees to the provisions for adequate facilities for the liturgical, education and social aspects of parish life, and to their financial support.
It is his responsibility to maintain a sufficient staff and volunteers to accomplish parish objectives and programs. He accomplishes this with the support of the Pastoral Council. The priority of parish obligations, needs and long-range goals are determined by the Pastor with the cooperation of his Staff, the Council and Parishioners.
PERMANENT DEACONS:
Mr. Charles Hicks, Mr. Martin Perry
Our Permanent Deacons are ordained to the clerical state and assigned to a parish by the Archbishop. The role of the Permanent Deacon assists the celebrant at Eucharist, is an ordinary minister of the Eucharist and proclaims and preaches the Word of God. He may baptize and officiate at marriages and celebrate the rites of Christian burial. Our Deacons visit the sick, attend to the care of youth, the needy, the lonely and those under stress, including the separated, widowed or divorced. They assist the Pastor in other areas as they are needed.
PASTORAL ASSOCIATE:
Mrs. Charlotte Henderson
The Pastoral Associate is a member of the staff whose duties include supporting the Parish/Community Outreach in its work of furthering and coordinating community activities and overseeing the Bereavement Group. She visits our sick parishioners in the local hospitals and nursing homes. She is also a Eucharistic Minister, works in serving the poor, the aged, and needy of the parish and surrounding community, promoting ecumenical functions and celebrations within the Harford County area. She is the director of St. Mark's R.C.I.A. and chairperson of the St. Vincent De Paul Society.

The Administrator of Religious Education (ARE) is the member of the staff primarily responsible for the religious education of the community of St. Mark. The ARE is the staff member on the Catholic Formation Board. She directs the religious education program for Kindergarten through Grade 9. She is also responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of curricula. Mrs. Goedeke does all the recruiting, training, supervising and education of catechist and aides. The ARE also provides programs for parents to assist them in the preparation of their children for celebrating Baptism, Eucharist, Reconciliation and Confirmation. She is responsible for the annual Vacation Bible School.
